Computer classes

A computer lab at the Shute Park branch

Overview

The Digital Bridge / Puente Digital is a 10-seat computer lab at the Shute Park Branch, originally donated by Intel and the Gates Foundation. Some classes are offered in basic computing (see below), and during non-class times the computers are available for general Internet access. The machines also have Microsoft Office intalled. Computer assistants are available in the afternoons and evenings to provide advice and assistance to people using the Internet computers.

Mission Statement for Digital Bridge

To provide free access within the public library to computer and Internet technology for the local community, especially for under-represented youth, family, senior, and Latino populations.

To take these populations from the heart of the community to the world beyond through a program that teaches basic computer skills, library catalog and database use, web page design, and Internet searching techniques.

Classes

We offer a basic introduction to computers at Shute Park, in English, Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m.  There is a signup sheet at the reference desk, or sign up online from our E-Vanced event calendar.

Classes in Spanish

We also offer basic computer classes in Spanish on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. This information is also found in the Spanish section of our website.
