Summer Reading until August 12

Summer Reading 2008 runs from June 1 to August 12 with programs and events for all ages. Register at either the Main Library or the Shute Park Branch.

What's available?

Read-to-Me Summer Reading for Prereaders

    • Builds important pre-reading skills before children enter school or learn to read.
    • Research shows that reading to children every day is the best thing you can do to help them get ready to become readers.
    • It's never too early to begin reading to children.

Summer Reading for Young Readers

    • For children able to read on their own who are entering K-5 in the fall.
    • Participants may choose to read either twenty books, on twenty days, or twenty times for 15-minutes each time.

Teen Summer Reading Contest

    • For teens entering grades 6-12 in the fall.
    • Teens may read five books and earn a free paperback and/or they may do various activities and enter a large prize drawing.

Adult Summer Reading

    • You're never too old for Summer Reading!
    • It's quick, easy and there are prizes.
