"I think a good novel would be where a bunch of men on a ship are looking for a whale. They look and look, but you know what? They never find him. And you know why they never find him? It doesn't say. The book leaves it up to you, the reader, to decide. Then, at the very end, there's a page you can lick and it tastes like Kool-Aid."

StorytimesFor all ages STORYTIMES Storytimes are a fun way to introduce children to books and reading. Trained library staff and volunteers adapt stories, songs, and movement activities to match the ages and attention spans of the children. Caregivers can learn how to foster the early literacy skills that help to prepare children to learn to read. Your librarians will answer questions about library materials and programs and share creative ways that you can interest children in books. All storytimes are offered on a drop-in, (no registration required) basis. Book Babies........................... birth to two years old Toddler Time.......................... two and three-year-olds Preschool Storytime................ ages three and older Family Storytime.................... children of all ages The library cannot accommodate large groups on a drop-in basis at storytimes. If you would like to bring a preschool group, you may contact Youth Services for a tour of the library, which usually includes a brief, private storytime session. (503) 615-6500 |
