International Storytime

A school-year program featuring stories and activities in a variety of languages and presented by volunteers.

October through June, these free events are held at the Main library on Saturday afternoons and no sign-up is required.

Volunteers present these storytimes as a way to share their cultural heritage with the community, to introduce children to families' native languages and to provide an educational opportunity for English speakers who are learning other languages.

Call the Volunteer Coordinator (503) 615-3457 or the Youth Services Division at (503) 615-6500 for further information or to work as an International Storytime volunteer.

Current schedule:

  • Third saturday each month through June: Japanese storytime 1:15pm
  • April 19: Cherry Blossom festival and Japanese storytime 1-2:30pm
  • May 3: Cinco de Mayo celebration and Spanish storytime 1-2:30pm
  • June 28: A Multicultural Festival 1pm-3pm
  • July & August: no International Storytimes
