Friday Family Flicks

Free family-friendly movies on the third Friday of most months on the big screen at the Main Library. Movies start at 6:30 p.m. and popcorn is provided!

This program is best for ages 4 and older, although parents and guardians are responsible for deciding if the movie is appropriate for their families. Children must bring a responsible adult. Seating is on a first come first served basis and there is no registration.

June 18, 2010: Surf's Up
Rated PG, 85 minutes
Teenage Rockhopper penguin Cody Maverick is an up-and-coming surfer who is about to enter his first pro competition. Followed by a documentary crew to film his experiences, Cody leaves Antarctica for the warmer climes in order to surf in the Big Z Memorial Surf Championship covered by the SPEN network. His hero, champion surfer Big Z, has been gone for ten years, and Cody wants to win the championship in his memory. On his journey he encounters surfer-dude Chicken Joe who is also on his way to the surf-off. The two arrive to discover that the reigning champ, Tank Evans is currently looking to win this Memorial again.

Ariel is a fun-loving and mischievous mermaid who is enchanted with all things human. Disregarding her father's order to stay away from the world above the sea, she swims to the surface and, in a raging storm, rescues Prince Eric, the man of her dreams. Determined to be human, she strikes a bargain with the devious seawitch, Ursula, and trades her fins and beautiful voice for legs. With her best friend Flounder, and her reluctant chaperone Sebastian at her side, Ariel must win the prince's love and save her father's kingdom.

August 20, 2010: Finding Nemo

The fretful Marlin and his young son Nemo, become separated from each other in the Great Barrier Reef. Nemo, a clown fish, is unexpectedly taken from his home and thrust into a fish tank in a dentist's office overlooking Sydney Harbor. Buoyed by the companionship of a friendly fish named Dory, Marlin embarks on a dangerous trek and finds himself the unlikely hero.
