Hillsboro Main Library
An introduction to the Main library.
The Hillsboro Main Library opened in May of 2007. It includes 76,000 square feet of space on two floors. Initially the library will only occupy the bottom floor, which is 38,000 square feet - double the size of the previous library space in the Tanasbourne mall. The amount of shelving will increase by approximately 30%, allowing for expansion of the collection; and additional seating will accommodate more library patrons.
A $1 million community capital fundraising campaign was begun in October 2005 in support of the new Main library, and was completed in April of 2007. Members of the Library Foundation of Hillsboro, the Hillsboro Library Board, the Friends of the Hillsboro Public Library, City Council, city employees, library staff, local businesses, corporations, foundations, organizations, trusts, and countless individuals and families have committed their personal time and treasure to the realization of this new Main Library for Hillsboro.
